Our mission

Together, we founded R.I.P Statue, driven by our shared love for this line of work and a desire to push the boundaries. Our mission is to demonstrate that art from millions of years ago doesn't solely belong in museums but can also find a place in people's living rooms. As R.I.P Statue, we strive to make this unique vision a reality, inviting individuals to embrace the beauty and wonder of ancient art within their own homes.

Our story

We crossed paths while working on projects for Aart Walen, a remarkable individual who began his journey as a taxidermist and exhibition curator at a young age. Over 30 years ago, he established his own company specializing in the creation of dinosaur skeletons, models, and more. Aart, who is the father of Lina, provided an opportunity for Emma to join as an intern when she was just 17 years old.

For many years, we have been involved in modeling various dinosaurs for museums and exhibitions. One day, an acquaintance of Emma's approached her with a request for a Tyrannosaurus rex skull. Intrigued by the idea, Lina decided to lend a hand, and so began our joint effort to create a beautiful replica of the skull. As we worked together, inspiration struck, leading us to explore the possibilities of making molds and crafting creative variations based on the original design.

Given the considerable size of a T-rex skull, we opted for the Daspletosaurus instead. Daspletosaurus, meaning "formidable lizard" in Greek, was a predator that lived millions of years ago. Its species name, torosus, translates to "muscular" in Latin. As one of the largest predators of its time, reaching lengths of up to 9 meters, the Daspletosaurus belonged to the Tyrannosaurid family and was the smaller and older cousin of the iconic T-rex. The skull serves as a captivating addition to any interior space.

After a lot of work to meet our high quality standards, we finally completed the Daspletosaurus skull. Initially, our plan revolved around selling the Daspletosaurus skull. However, as time went on, we began to gather ideas for other creative products that resonated with our personal interests and passions, in line with our concept.

Working together

will not always go as planned,

but sharing the good times

while working together on your dreams

is the best feeling ever

Lina Walen (pictured left) - Ever since I was a child, my father, Aart Walen, introduced me to the captivating world of building dinosaurs. Think of making a mammoth in Mexico or joining a dig in Amerika when I was 16 years old. Although I initially pursued a career in dietetics, it was only after obtaining my degree that my love and passion for dinosaurs truly hit me and pursued a career in this field.

Throughout my years of study and even before, I assisted my father in his endeavors. Now, with R.I.P. Statue, it's time for the next chapter. Over the past three years, I have dedicated even more time in perfecting my skills in welding, mold-making, anatomy, paleontology, and sculpting.

Emma Bouw (pictured right) - When I was 17 Aart Walen introduced me to the fascinating world of dinosaur construction, and from that moment, I was completely captivated. Through internships and later opportunities, I had the privilege to contribute to dinosaur construction projects from all around the world, each one unique and awe-inspiring.

I am genuinely excited about this new challenge and transforming our vision into reality. Drawing upon a diverse skill set acquired through experiences in welding, mold-making, and sculpting, I am also gaining proficiency in 3D printing and modeling programs. These skills form the foundation for me to craft something both aesthetically beautiful and innovative.
